I am an attorney practicing family law, and I see parents every day who have forgotten that children should always come first. I hope that this blog will remind people that kids can be terribly hurt when their parents get divorced and that it is up to the adults in their lives to provide a secure foundation where they can feel safe and know that they are cared for. 3 Types Of Information You Should Be Prepared To Share During An Initial Consultation With A Car Accident Lawyer

If you have recently been injured in an automotive accident, you may be planning to schedule a consultation with a car accident lawyer. Most personal injury lawyers offer consultations free of charge. However, it is still important to prepare for the meeting. Here is some of the information that you should be prepare to present during your initial consultation with a car accident attorney:

Information About the Automotive Accident

When you meet with the attorney, you should be prepared to share the details of the accident. The attorney may want to know when the accident occurred, the time of day of the incident and where the accident happened. In addition, details, such as weather conditions and the involvement of other motorists, may also be discussed.

One of the most important pieces of information will be the details of how the accident occurred. Even if you do not feel that you were at fault in the accident, it is best to share any traffic violations with which you may have been charged during the accident.

Also, the attorney will want to know whether or not a police report was filed. The report should be able to offer the attorney and unbiased record of the event.

If you took photos of the accident with your cell phone or camera, those images should also be shared with the attorney during this meeting.

Information About Your Injuries

The attorney will likely ask you whether or not an ambulance was called to the scene of the accident. You should also be prepared to discuss the type of treatment that you received and where you received it.

If you do have any medical papers that indicate the diagnosis that was rendered and details of the procedures that were performed, you can present those to the lawyer during your meeting. In addition, if follow-up treatment is required and has not been completed, discuss those instructions with the attorney as well.

Information about Property Damages

The attorney will also want to know what types of property were damaged during the accident. Be prepared to discuss the make and model of your vehicle. In addition, provide information about whether or not the car  or truck is still bank-owned.

If you have already received an estimate of the repairs needed to restore your vehicle, present a copy of it to the attorney. Photographs that display your car before and after the accident are also helpful.

If you have recently been in an accident and have not met with an attorney, schedule a consultation with a car accident lawyer in your area.
