Family Law Attorneys Fight for Families

Many parents fail to realize that they are still co-parents even after a divorce. This means no matter what their feelings are toward each other, their goals should always be geared toward the best interests of their children. I am an attorney practicing family law, and I see parents every day who have forgotten that children should always come first. I hope that this blog will remind people that kids can be terribly hurt when their parents get divorced and that it is up to the adults in their lives to provide a secure foundation where they can feel safe and know that they are cared for. Children are often innocent victims of divorce. Learn how to protect your kids.

5 Ways To Increase The Chance Of Winning A Social Security Claim

Ideally, if you were disabled and put out of work, you would be able to be compensated through your social security. However, this is not the case since you have to file a claim and provide proof that you are actually disabled. This is why you want to be sure that you do what you can to ensure that your claim wins. Here are five ways to increase the chance of winning your claim:

  1. Ask Your Doctor to Provide a Written Statement: If you are no longer able to work in the field in which you work because of a disability, you will want to have the support of your doctor. After all, there's no one else more credible than a doctor telling a court that you are not able to work. Your doctor will know the extent of the disability and provide details about it that you may not have been able to provide on your own.
  2. Save Your Medical Records: Saving all your medical records is important for providing evidence if it is asked for. You will also want to save the paperwork that shows how often you have applied for social security benefits. Hiring a social security attorney can help you better keep track of these documents. They will know what definitely needs to be saved for future reference.
  3. Respond to Requests Quickly: When you file for social security benefits, there is going to be a disability examiner assigned to your case. They will be the ones sending you requests to provide certain paperwork during this time. It's best to go over these things with your attorney and fill, sign, and send this paperwork in as soon as possible. This is going to keep your case moving quickly so that you can receive the benefits you deserve in a quicker amount of time.
  4. Stay in Contact With Your Attorney: It's important that you show an attorney (such as one from Ball & Ferrari) how serious you are about winning your case, which will ensure that they are working as hard as they can to keep it moving swiftly. Be sure that you continuously keep in contact with them. Tell them about any changes and call at least once a week if you haven't heard from them to see if there are any updates or tasks that you should take care of.

By knowing these four ways to increase the chance of winning your social security claim, you can be sure that you receive the benefits you deserve as quickly as possible.
